Twisted-In-Wire Brushes are also known as Bottle Brushes, Tube Brushes, or Spiral Brushes. They are named these things for the way they look and the things they clean. Twisted-In-Wire Brushes are made by taking a length of wire doubled over, placing bristle material in between the top and bottom of the doubled over wire, and twisting it up like a rubber band. The base wire, or the piece of wire that is twisted, is made of Galvanized Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, or Brass. All brushes for medical use are made with Stainless Steel. The bristle material can be natural, synthetic or metal. The type used will depend on your application.

Twisted-In-Wire brushes have several components. They can be made in a single spiral or double spiral configuration. A single spiral brush is one length of wire doubled over and twisted up. A double spiral brush is two lengths of wire doubled up and twisted together concurrently. A double spiral brush provides the user with a much stronger base, often for heavy industrial applications. Another component of Twisted-In-Wire brushes is the end types. The ends are made in a variety of ways at either end of the brush. The end by the bristle material can be cut or bent over or bristled. The end farthest away from the bristle material can be cut, made with a ring or loop, or have a nipple, metal tube, wood or plastic handle attached. Guides can also be furnished that fit over the twisted metal base wire. Additionally, the length of the bristled area can vary, as well as the overall length. The bristled area can be all at one end of the brush, or in the middle, or somewhere in between. The available ranges differ between micro spirals and regular spiral brushes. Micro Sprial Brushes are very small spiral brushes. They are often used for cleaning miniature holes, and for various medical purposes. Micro Spirals range from .028" (.71mm) in diameter to .10" (2.5mm). The length can range from 2 1/2" (64mm) to12" (305mm) generally, but we can make them longer. Regular Spiral Brushes range from .125" (3.2mm) in diameter to 12" (305mm). The size of the brush part or bristled area can range from 1/4" (6.4mm) to 36" (914mm). The overall length of the brush can range from 2 1/2" (64mm) to 80" (2032mm).
The fill material used in the brush can come from natural, synthetic, or metal sources. The use of the brush will determine the types of fill material and base wire to be used. For example, natural bristle is used when wire will scratch or liquids are involved. Synthetic materials are often used for general purpose cleaning, and some are chemical resistant. Metal materials are used for heavy duty cleaning and cleaning other metal surfaces.

To stiffen a brush, shorten the trim length or use a larger diameter bristle. To lengthen the life of a brush, use the softest fill material appropriate for the job.
